Herts Fast News

The wrong type of pavement.... really!

Last week Malcolm Cowan had to stop Herts Highways replacing defunct paving slabs with tarmac in Russellcroft Rd, Welwyn Garden City. Why? It is a conservation area and replacement should be like with like... Why did Herts Highways not read their own rules? What a waste of their time and our money!

When are yellow lines not yellow lines...

...when you forget to get the cars moved so have to paint either side of them? Free parking on Upton Road, Watford anyone?

School safety lights in silly place (and don't work)

These lights are opposite Beechfield School in Watford, first of all they don't flash and secondly they are after the place where most parents and children cross. Yet more unnecessary street furniture...

Wrong type of tar...

You would think resurfacing of a road was a fairly straightforward procedure?  No?

Here Herts Highways used the wrong type of tar last year and had to resurface the entire stretch of road that had just been surfaced here on Handside Lane, Welwyn Garden City.

The traffic light that didn't exist....

Here is a traffic light that apparently did not exist! We eventually got this removed about 2 months after the work was completed after much chasing by Stephen Giles-Medhurst and Susan Gaszczak. At one point Herts Highways even denied it existed.

And the hospital name is?

Driving round Watford as a visitor you may feel confused as you often stumble over signs you cannot read, here is just one of the classics, obscured by yet another Herts Highways signs...

Why use one sign?

When you can litter our streets with three? No right turn, one way only and two way traffic which is it as you turn out of Market Street, Watford into Merton Road

Have Herts Highways White Liners not got enough to do?

This loading bay was a temporary measure while some building work was carried out. Herts Highways decided to repaint the now redundant lines recently... obviously they have not spotted the urgent repainting required in other parts of the county...

Burning the night oil in Cavendish Road, St Albans?

This light has been burning day and night for nearly a year. It has been reported to Herts Highways, what a waste of money and electricity, is this council green or not?

Want to park in St Albans?

Well, you can park but the main car park did not sign up to the electronic signs, not that they work anyway! So we wish you luck finding a space, yet another Herts Highways fail.
